The BBC asked us to take part in a film called "A Sense of Place" and we spent an enjoyable day exploring sculptures in Blackpool. We were wet and windswept, but the sun soon began to shine and we had a marvellous day. There will be video clips coming soon, as well as a world premiere of our film!

Year 4's Journey to Jo'burg!
In year 4 we read a book called Journey to Jo’burg which was written by Beverley Naidoo.
The story was about Naledi and Tiro who lived in South Africa, a difficult place to live. Sadly their baby sister Dineo was very ill but because they were very poor and had no money they could not afford to get medicine or go to see a doctor. There Mma also lived 300km in Johannesburg and she was the only person that could really help them. They had a tough decision to make.
Did they wait with Dineo and hope she would get better or did they walk the 300km to Jo’burg? Read the book and find out all about how Tiro and Naledi lived, what decision that made and what challenges they faced along the way.
In Art we also created a piece of work that aims to show what challenges Naledi and Tiro faced. We carefully studied the work of Emily Kngwarreye and how she used a rainbow and dotty technique in her artwork. We also explored how Paul Klee used symbols to share his ideas. After a trip to Africa Paul Klee was inspired to use colour and brighten up his once drab artwork so we tried to do this too.
